Here's how you can run your own digital board game night

You want to get into board gaming? That's cool. It's a great hobby. And this is Table Tap after all.

And you want to do it on your phone or tablet? That's also cool. This is Pocket Gamer after all.

So I've decided to put together a quick checklist for anyone wanting to run their own mobile board gaming night. Follow these suggestions and you'll be having a blast in no time flat.

Okay, that might sound mean, but board games are better with people. Find some of your friends who you think would be into board games. Talk to them, find out what they're interested in, and plan the games accordingly.

If it's everyone's first go at digital board games, maybe don't start off with something too deep or heavy. Keep things light, and ease people into the hobby.

Seriously, snacks are super important. And drinks. Treat the whole thing like a party. Not too sophisticated, unless you're a sophisticated lot. Crisps are good. I mean, crisps are always good.

You're going to want games that have got pass and play functionality. You're not going to want to play online, because it might mess up and that's your night ruined.

There are plenty of games out there that offer pass and play, so choose a couple that are going to work well for your group.

Think about how much time you've got, and always have a back up plan. If you're not enjoying a game, then ensure you've got others that you can throw into the mix. I'd say have at least three on your tablet or phone, but more is always better.

Digital board games are great, because you don't need to set them up at the start or clear them up when you've finished. But your friends will hate you if your phone or tablet dies halfway through a game.

Make sure everything is charged and good to go for when your guests arrive, and make sure the seating arrangements will let you whack things on charge if needs be. Having a couple of devices ready is a good plan too.

Just because it's your night, doesn't mean you have to provide everything. Board games aren't the cheapest apps, so if your friends have their own suggestions, let them bring them.

It's a good way to mix things up without breaking the bank. And it means you're going to have a lot of options and devices.
