Have you ever wanted to create your own interactive fiction? Well now you can with inklewriter.
It's a surprisingly powerful, free to use piece of web-based software from the dev behind 80 Days and Down Among the Dead Men.
The program, which you can have a look at here, lets you string together pieces of story to create a branching narrative. When you're done you can share what you've created on the web.
And once your piece of fiction is shared, anyone with a web browser can play it. Which essentially means you can create your own mobile gamebook.
All you need is some writing skill and a bit of perseverance. If you think your work's good enough you can also create a Kindle version of your story.
This is essentially the same software that Inkle uses to create its gamebooks, and while it might take you a while to get used to how things work, there are some pretty comprehensive tutorials that walk you through most of the process.
You can be up and running in a few minutes, but if you're willing to spend some time really getting to grips with what the software offers, you'll find a really impressive storytelling tool.
We'd love to see some of the creations and ideas that you guys can come up with using inklewriter. We're going to be playing around with it too, because that's just the sort of thing we like to do.
