Kickstart this: Bolt Riley is a reggae-infused adventure game from the Quest For Glory creators
Jammin'
Cory and Lori Cole are best known as the creators of Sierra's punny adventure game series, Quest For Glory.
Their latest game follows a young Jamaican's rise to fame as a legend of reggae.
Bolt Riley is a departure from the comedic games the Coles are known for, then. That's not to say Bolt Riley is devoid of comedy, but the focus seems to be more on gripping players with an inspiring story.
This story concerns the titular Bolt Riley, who knows nothing else than being unlucky in love, and being harassed by the Rude Boys gang around his hometown, Trenchtown.
Upon discovering reggae, Bolt aspires to become a musical artist himself, and starts up a small band to pursue his passion. From there, Bolt and his band slowly pick up fans and fame.
Bolt Riley's got vibrant 2D art and a big cast of characters to be found too. This includes the "natty dreads" character who owns the radio that Bolt discovers reggae through.
Unfortunately, as Bolt Riley enters its final week on Kickstarter, it's still a long way off from the $120,000 funding goal.
Still, if you're enthused for the game, you can put $12 down for a digital copy on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Ouya.
Developer Adventure Mob hopes to be able to bring Bolt Riley to iOS, Android, Windows 8 Phone, Kindle, and Surface after the initial release.
