Illustrated is a new relaxing puzzler that's coming to Apple Arcade this month
BorderLeap has just announced it will release a new relaxing puzzler called Illustrated soon on Apple Arcade. The developers already have millions of downloads under their belt after releasing the likes of Drop Flip, Alpha Omega, and Patterned.
Now, on January 13th, iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV users will get a chance to play Illustrated, which has been created using input from world-famous artists from around the world. It will be part of Apple’s gaming subscription service, Apple Arcade, joining other games like Episode XOXO, Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!, And Squiggle Drop in January 2023.
In Illustrated, players will not only solve interesting puzzles but also learn the story behind them. Gorgeous pieces of art have been hidden behind challenges, and players must uncover them through gameplay that involves both jigsaw and word puzzles.
Each puzzle will start off as an illustration that has been represented by a sketch of an early concept of the same. In addition to this, there will be a few concealed words that are based on the artists’ thoughts about their masterpieces.
As players go on placing the right pieces on the board, the illustration slowly becomes fuller, eventually showcasing a beautiful painting. The words also keep revealing themselves, and in the end, players will witness both, the artwork and its story.
Popular works created by renowned individuals like the New Zealand-based illustrator and environment designer Philip Sue, Portuguese illustrator and street artist Francisco Fonseca, and Korean painter Jungsuk Lee will be available during launch. More artists should be added in the coming months too.
There are over a hundred different pieces to complete and the custom-composed soundtrack makes things even more serene. You can find Illustrated’s App Store page but you will need to subscribe to Apple Arcade to try it out, which will cost $4.99 a month.
