The Golden Joystick Awards 2016: The Mobile And VR Winners
No surprises as Pokemon GO rocks the 34th public-voted game awards
The 34th Golden Joystick Awards took place on Friday evening in London. Your Pocket Gamer chums were there, making sure mobile, handheld and VR were properly represented. And they were (just about). There were two categories out of 26 that we know you're desperate to hear about.
INNOVATION OF THE YEAR3rd Place: Oculus Rift
2nd Place: HTC Vive
1st Place WINNER: Pokemon GO MOBILE OR HANDHELD GAME OF THE YEAR
3rd Place: Clash Royale
2nd Place: Monster Hunter Generations
1st Place WINNER: Pokemon GO
Overall Game Of The Year went to Dark Souls 3. The awards are voted for by the public so if you think your favourite mobile game of the year was robbed, you've got to take it up with the whole human race.
The Golden Joysticks began in 1983 when ZX Spectrum shoot-'em-up Jetpac was voted Game Of The Year.
You can see all the 2016 results over at the event organiser's site, or you can watch the whole thing here (mobile gaming appears at about 2:04:40).
