Temple Run deserves to be in the pantheon of mobile games. While it was a deceptively simple title, with your adventurer running out of a temple (go figure) pursued by a group of monstrous apes, it was one of the first games on mobile to offer a fully 3D environment, albeit one on a straight path.
And now you can experience Temple Run in its newest form, and first level-based version, with Temple Run: Legends, out now on Apple Arcade! It features not only 500 different levels but 10 different explorers to play while keeping the gameplay we all know and love from the Temple Run franchise.
It's certainly ambitious to add a plot and wider cast to a game which has been mostly known for its simple endless-runner gameplay. But if there's anything we've seen on Apple Arcade, it's that this subscription gaming service has attracted some innovative and unusual games.
We should temper this latest news with a question, which is whether or not it's good that Apple Arcade is leaning a little more on big names. After all, one of the biggest points of appeal to the service has always been finding unique and unusual games. And while there's no question Temple Run: Legends looks impressive, is it really all that new? We'll have to wait and see.
