- Step Safari is a new game where you take a walk on the wild side
- Play as a flamingo and use physics based controls to keep your stride stable
- Dash through hippo jaws, careen off of lily pads and avoid being eaten by crocodiles
Want to take a walk on the wild side? Do you miss old physics-based walking games like QWOP? Love flamingos?! Well, someone has heard your prayers and answered all three of them in a single game. Because Step Safari is out now on mobile, and it's got all the thrills and spills you'd expect from a game about a flamingo avoiding being eaten by crocodiles.
As you might've guessed from that description, Step Safari is a physics-based walking simulator. You play a flamingo trying to navigate a lake, avoiding falling into the water and being eaten by the aforementioned crocodile. The only wrinkle is you need to use the simple-to-learn but hard-to-master tap-and-hold controls to make sure your flamingo is avoiding obstacles while keeping themselves on (mostly) dry land.
You'll hurry through the jaws of a hippo, careen back and forth on lily pads, crawl up a rushing waterfall and more on your path to safety.
There's something inherently fun about the inelegant gait of a player character in a walking simulator. Of course, it's a fine line between silly and fun, or frustrating and unfair. And while we can't vouch for Step Safari, we do think it looks to be the former, not the latter.
You can have a go for yourself in Step Safari, out now on Google Play and the iOS App Store!
