BTS Cooking On is top of the charts, showing the enduring popularity of K-pop boy band
People still seem to love those BTS boys

BTS Cooking On: TinyTAN Restaurant is top of the charts on a number of storefronts mere days after release, developer Com2uS has announced. The game, which sees you running your own restaurant assisted by chibified versions of popular K-pop boy band BTS, has hit number one in Japan and reached the top five in 15 countries.
Aside from Com2uS obviously patting themselves on the back, I was only mildly surprised to see the game be so successful. I distinctly remember how popular BTS was with a number of people a few years back, and with the member's mandatory military service soon to wind down, and anticipation building for a potential return, it's no wonder fangirls (and fanboys) are looking for their fix.
The TinyTAN brand itself, with its almost painfully twee representations of these musicians, probably didn't hurt of course. But what does stand out is how varied the locations that this game has topped the charts in really is. I guess BTS fever really is still global.
As for what we can expect from the game in future? Well, like I said, BTS are slated to reunite sometime in 2025, so I wouldn't be surprised if Com2uS talking about supporting the game with events and updates isn't just business speak. After all, if they manage to tie it in to the musician's hotly-anticipated return it could turn into a real moneyspinner for the developer.
