Dungeon Core: Nuclear Abyss is a new retro roguelite where you're on cleanup detail
  • Dungeon Core: Nuclear Abyss is a new roguelite game on iOS
  • You play as a cleanup crew member mopping up the remains of a failed weapons program
  • Despatch enemies, get upgrades and journey closer and closer to the core

There's arguably no job worse, but more important, than being a janitor or cleaner. You're underappreciated, underpaid, and usually, the entire workplace would grind to a half if you weren't there to do the essential tasks. But it could be worse, you could be cleaning up after a radioactive biological experiment gone wrong, which is precisely what you're doing in Dungeon Core: Nuclear Abyss.

This new top-down roguelite from Ulf Filip Karlsson on iOS sends you into the depths of a failed weapons program. Your job is simple, clean up the mess that's been left behind. But before you think this is some retro take on Viscera Cleanup Detail, you should know that the definition of 'clean' here is very, very loose.

Blast and slash your way through hordes of enemies in procedurally generated levels, gathering upgrades as you go while facing down more and more powerful creatures. Your ultimate mission is to destroy the core itself, but you're going to need to make sure you're stronger on each subsequent visit to do so.

While Dungeon Core is by no means the first roguelite top-down shooter, we do like the nuclear-green, grimy aesthetic it goes for. For us, Dungeon Core definitely has the vibe of a competent, fun and quite nicely designed roguelite with some retro flair.
