Monster Hunter Now's Driftsmelting Bonanza is incoming, set to begin very soon
  • Monster Hunter Now's Driftsmelting Bonanza is right around the corner
  • Get unique driftstones and more rewards to increase your equipment quality
  • Take on monsters with an increased chance to appear

Monster Hunter Now, the hit creature-slaying game from Niantic, will hold another minor event with great rewards. The Driftsmelting Bonanza, is set to begin on August 19th, with rewards for those who engage in driftsmelting during that period. What's that? What's driftsmelting? Well, I'm glad you asked.

Put simply, driftsmelting allows you to bind new skills to equipment by using driftstones. Acquire them from slaying monsters, then use driftsmelting to bind them, usually by walking a significant distance (of course there's always the insta-smelt option.)

As for the Driftsmelting Bonanza, this event promises to offer both unique driftstones and more common encounters with monsters such as Banbaro and Black Diablos, who will exclusively drop these unique mysterious driftstones. You'll also be able to driftsmelt at a reduced walking rate, meaning an easier time for those of you with tired feet.

Drift, drift, everywhere, but not enough to smelt

The move to hold minor events such as this and the recently-passed Water Element Questline, we reckon is partially attributed to Niantic's attempt to regain player goodwill as well as encourage players to get out and about. Given the main selling point of Niantic's AR games is the fun to be had outdoors, and the community, it's no surprise they'd want to encourage that.

Still, for frequent players, what this certainly means is that there are plenty of great rewards to be had.
