Monument Valley appears on Netflix in Pakistan after debut promised this year
Coming ahead of worldwide launch?
- ustwo Games' Monument Valley has broken cover and appeared on Netflix Games in Pakistan
- Assuming it's not a mistake, this probably means we can expect the full game very soon
- Monument Valley was a major hit for ustwo, and even appeared in Netflix's House of Cards
As noted on our sister site PocketGamer.biz, Monument Valley by ustwo Games has appeared on Netflix Games in Pakistan. This marks the game's first appearance after an announcement in 2023 that it would debut on the subscription service sometime this year. Assuming this isn't an accidental early release - those do happen - we can expect Monument Valley to hit Netflix Games worldwide sometime soon.
A significant title in mobile gaming canon, Monument Valley catapulted ustwo to development superstardom. A deceptively simple puzzler where you navigate a strange, topsy-turvy world and interact with the environment to progress, a combination of intuitive gameplay and an emotionally punchy story made Monument Valley a surprise hit.
Funnily enough, Netflix and Monument Valley aren't exactly strangers to one another. The game would make a significant appearance in the hit drama series House of Cards, where it was played by the principal character Frank Underwood. While it's not mentioned in the announcement (probably due to accusations since-levied against the character's actor), it's almost certainly a factor in the game coming to Netflix.
We're not surprised that Monument Valley is such a hotly-anticipated release on Netflix. And we reckon that it could open up an entirely new audience to the hit puzzler. Going back to the appearance on House of Cards, it certainly raises a potential question. Could future appearances by mobile games on Netflix shows guarantee a spot on their gaming catalogue? Food for thought, certainly.
