Mobile manufacturer OnePlus pairs with death metal band Lordi for new promo
To celebrate the world's first all-metal phone
- Mobile manufacturer OnePlus is teaming up with Finnish heavy-metal band Lordi
- The act have created a new musical track promoting the release of the new all-metal Nord 4
- The device is being pushed by OnePlus as their new, AI-powered flagship
Mobile manufacturer OnePlus, who you may remember from our coverage of their perennial limited-edition Genshin Impact devices, is set to make a more bizarre, brutal partnership. In this case, it's with hit Finnish metal band Lordi, to produce a track promoting their newest device, the all-metal Nord 4.
Yes, you read that right, a song about a phone. But if there was any doubt as to the heavy-metal credentials on display here, it's worth noting Lordi is the first heavy-metal band to win the Eurovision Song Contest and the first Finnish act to boot.
Certainly, if there's any musical act that could help promote an all-metal phone, it's an all-metal band. You can check out the promotional video released to mark the pairing below, and the track itself is now available on Spotify and all good music-streaming services.
We don't know exactly how a phone can 'inspire' a song, but it's a pretty clever pairing and way to promote the OnePlus all-metal phone. However, OnePlus has leaned much more heavily into the rather specious idea of AI enhancement rather than mobile gaming for this release.
So sadly, no new Genshin-themed version for you, yet, but if you're the kind of person who listens to music in the shower you'll be glad to know they've accounted for that with their new AquaTouch screen technology.
Still, you don't need to fret even if you're on another device. Because you only need to look as far as our list of the best mobile games of 2024 (so far) to see what other great games are on offer.
And if that's not enough, you can always dig into our other list of the most anticipated mobile games of the year. Both these lists are hand-curated, with top picks from across the world of mobile gaming.
