Netflix releases new game Sports Sports for some retro athletic fun
Go for gold!
- Sports Sports is the newest release from Netflix Games
- This retro-style athletic simulator boasts dozens of minigames to play
- Duke it out with other athletes in multiplayer and create your own athlete!
With the Summer Olympics of 2024 in full swing, you may be a little rueful that you can't be at the events in sunny Paris. But if you're looking to get some of the excitement and drama of a big athletic contest in the palm of your hand, and you happen to be a Netflix subscriber, why not grab a copy of the newly-released Sports Sports?
While it may not be the official game of the Olympics, Sports Sports still offers some amazing events. In this sports sim, you can try out 12 different minigames themed after popular athletic contests like track and field, swimming, archery and weightlifting.
Unlike some other games, Sports Sports lacks a career mode so to speak (although you do get to track your stats and make your own athlete), but you do get the ability to create quick playlists of minigames, duke it out with other players in multiplayer and more.
Sports games are difficult because in reality there's no way to offer a one-to-one translation of the real experience (barring some sort of full-dive VR.) But Sports Sports has all the trappings of a good Netflix game, with some intuitive-looking gameplay, lovely retro graphics and, of course, being free.
You can try out Sports Sports via the iOS App Store and Google Play as part of your Netflix subscription right now!
