Phantom Rose II Sapphire, a roguelike deckbuilding strategy game, is available now
  • Phantom Rose II Sapphire is a new roguelike deckbuilder coming to mobile
  • Having gained an audience on Steam, it's now headed to iOS and Android
  • Get it now, and experience a deckbuilder based on strategy, not chance!

Phantom Rose II Sapphire is a new roguelike deckbuilder making the jump from PC to mobile. In this game, you play as Aria, a young woman fighting to protect her school from a bizarre evil infesting it. You can find it now on the iOS App Store and Google Play!

Another deckbuilding strategy game? Yes, but this one has its own unusual style. With a bit of a mix of animesque visuals and some Tim Burtonesque gothic horror, I can certainly say that Phantom Rose II does enough to stand out. Although it may not be the game to bring in deckbuilder sceptics.

So what's Phantom Rose II's unique selling point? Well, in this case, there's no randomness involved in your card draws. Instead, it's all about managing your card cooldowns efficiently, kind of like Cultist Simulator, although much more fast-paced.

You can find Phantom Rose II on a mobile device near you, for iOS and Android!

Another deckbuilder in the wall

This is probably one of those times where I would be duty-bound to comment something about the glut of roguelike deckbuilders hitting mobile recently. But in fairness, it occurs to me that this may be more a survivorship bias than anything, as these games have proven popular enough on PC to finally make the jump to mobile.

So it could be more a case that the value of the mobile platform in offering a way to play titles in this genre is finally being recognised, which can only be a good thing. Especially given how well the game seems to translate to mobile.

In any case, this is just one of many great games being released this year. Want to see what else we think is worth a shot? There's nowhere better to start than our list of the best mobile games of 2024 (so far).

And if that's still not enough, be sure to check the latest entry in our regular feature of the top five new mobile games to try this week!
