AFK Journey tier list - An updated list of characters
Fans will be pleased to know that we have a complete AFK Journey tier list with every character released so far! We played the game even before it got released officially, to give you our perspective on the meta. If you are starting your adventure in the fantasy world of Esperia, below and in the next pages you will find everything that you need to know.
About the tier list
This is a completely new and updated AFK Journey tier list. The previous one was based on my experience playing the closed beta version of the game and it was based on different things compared to this one. For example, during the CBT, characters that were easy to upgrade with shards were a priority due to the limited time we had to play. Now this isn't an issue anymore.Of course, now we have many new characters in the game that were not included previously.
So, without wasting any more time let's get straight into an updated version of AFK Journey tier list!
1
SS-tier
Character | Class | Faction |
Odie | Marksman | Mauler |
Vala | Rogue | Lightbearer |
Rowan | Support | Lightbearer |
Ludovic | Support | Graveborn |
Cecia | Marksman | Graveborn |
Hewynn | Support | Wilder |
Thoran | Tank | Graveborn |
Reiner | Support | Hypogean |
Characters of this tier are considered by the AFK Journey community to be the very best in the game at the moment. When it comes to story mode (but not only), they can carry you from the early to the very late stages of the game. Long story short, if you have any of them, you will have a much easier time clearing content.
- Odie: Poison Dart allows Odie to stack up damage over time. More stacks mean more damage. This ability makes him an amazing character when it comes to bossing among others.
- Cecia: A Graveborn Marskman who can deal a lot of damage. Her Ultimate move "Queen's Summons" gives Cecia the ability to summon Mr Carlyle who inherits all of Cecia's stats.
- Hewynn: Hewynn is simply the best healer in the game. That's a good enough reason to put her in SS-Tier as you almost always need to have a healer in your comp.

S-tier
Character | Class | Faction |
Carolina | Mage | Graveborn |
Dionel | Marksman | Celestial |
Alsa | Mage | Mauler |
Igor | Warrior | Graveborn |
Antandra | Tank | Mauler |
Granny Dhanie | Tank | Wilder |
Koko | Support | Mauler |
Scarlita | Warrior | Celestial |
Lyca | Marksman | Wilder |
Viperian | Mage | Graveborn |
Phraesto | Tank | Hypogean |
Shakir | Rogue | Mauler |
Talene | Mage | Celestial |
Temesia | Tank | Lightbearer |
Smokey & Meerky | Support | Mauler |
Silvina | Rogue | Graveborn |
Korin | Warrior | Lightbearer |
Eironn | Rogue | Wilder |
Bryon | Marksman | Wilder |
S-Tier characters are great overall. But, since this is primarily an AFK Journey tier list for story mode, they are not as overpowered as the SS-Tier ones. That said, if you have them on your team you won't have issues clearing content regardless at which point in the game you are. Their performance is consistently superb. On top of that, almost all of them are at the very least good in over modes (Dream, PvP).
Korin for example is one of the best characters to have in the Dream Realm (all of them). Scarlita is meta in PvP and the same goes for Eironn. Anyway, I could go on and on but you get the idea! Like I said, they are great characters to have. Goes without saying that you should upgrade them if you can.

A-tier
Character | Class | Faction |
Rhys | Marksman | Mauler |
Kafra | Warrior | Wilder |
Arden | Mage | Wilder |
Cassadee | Mage | Lightbearer |
Brutus | Warrior | Mauler |
Seth | Rogue | Mauler |
Niru | Support | Graveborn |
Berial | Rogue | Hypogean |
Marilee | Marksman | Lightbearer |
Damian | Support | Wilder |
When it comes to the story mode in AFK Journey, every A-Tier character listed here is a good one. Some scale better than others as you further progress in the game tho. Seth is a very good example. Additionally, Seth is very good in PvP and every dream realm. The same can be said about Damian as well. Marilee is a Marksman who can move in any direction and deal damage to the two closest enemies. She's way better in the later stages of the game.
All in all, these characters can help you transition from the mid to the later stages of the game. At that point, you might want to switch them with better ones even though that might not even be necessary.
4
B-tier
Character | Class | Faction |
Walker | Rogue | Lightbearer |
Valen | Warrior | Lightbearer |
Parisa | Mage | Wilder |
Ulmus | Tank | Wilder |
Soren | Rogue | Mauler |
Mirael | Mage | Wider |
Lucius | Tank | Lightbearer |
B-Tier characters are average if you consider the bigger picture (aka end game). That said, they can be extremely useful in the early to mid stages of the game where you don't have access to better characters. Additionally, they are easy to upgrade for the most part. Parisa is a solid character in every mode including PvP. Valen on the other hand is one of the best early-game characters but he's pretty useless after that.
5
C-tier
Character | Class | Faction |
Kruger | Warrior | Mauler |
Lumont | Tank | Mauler |
Fay | Support | Lightbearer |
Atalanta | Marksman | Lightbearer |
Salazer | Rogue | Graveborn |
Satrana | Mage | Mauler |
C-tier characters are more like fillers. You shouldn't bother too much with them as there are simply much better options. There is however one exception and that's Kruger. Kruger is a must-have for Dream Realm. But since this AFK Journey tier list is for story mode, I had to rank him this low.
