Brave Nine set to shutter, but you'll still be able to play offline
Brave Nine's going away, but not entirely
- Brave Nine, the strategy RPG from Neowiz, is sadly closing down
- However, it's not all bad news as the developer are seeking to make the game available offline
- The upcoming December 2024 update will be the game's final patch, and conclude the storyline
It's bad news today, I'm sad to say. Brave Nine, the strategy RPG from developer Neowiz, is set to shut its doors after seven years. An announcement was released on the game's official Facebook page, confirming that the final update for Brave Nine would be released in December 2024, after which the game will become defunct.
But if you're a Brave Nine fan, there's no need to fret. As although the developers have confirmed that the December update will be its final one, and remove network connectivity, they're transitioning the game to a standalone state. The hope is that, as the final update wraps up the story, you'll be able to go back and re-experience the game whenever you want.
It's certainly a better alternative than many mobile live-service games which have gone the way of the dodo, as many of these become completely unplayable, even offline. So while it may be cold comfort for Brave Nine fans, it does mean that you're still able to play the game in some way.
Late 2023 and early 2024 were a hard time for game closures, and this year has been pretty damaging all around for the game industry with the number of layoffs and cost-cutting taking place. So it's important to remember that and admire Neowiz for trying to preserve Brave Nine as best they can for the time going forward.
